DALSTON – Gordos Pizzeria, nestled just a stone’s throw away from Dalston Junction train station in the heart of a lively neighbourhood, offers a delightful dining experience that’s worth every visit. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with a cosy atmosphere and friendly, smiling staff. The open kitchen, with its beautiful tiled oven, adds an authentic touch as you watch the chefs craft mouth-watering pizzas.
During my visit, I couldn’t help but notice the bustling kitchen, with about four chefs working tirelessly to serve a restaurant that was full yet managed to maintain a spacious and comfortable ambiance. The decor adds a charming touch, with custom water glasses and stylish ceramic plates, giving you the sense of a family-run establishment with a quirky personality.
One of the standout features of Gordos Pizzeria is its unique and unexpected decoration, particularly in the restroom, where you’ll find a focus on a rather amusing subject – pooping! It’s an example of the restaurant’s light-hearted and memorable approach to decor.
Now, let’s talk about the food. My friend and I decided to share a pizza topped with olives, artichokes, and mushrooms, and it was an absolute delight. It was a harmonious combination, and the pizza crust was perfectly cooked – reminiscent of the flavours and traditions straight from Italy. The simplicity of ingredients, the thin, brick oven-fired crust, and the delightful tomato sauce make it a true homage to the classics.
For dessert, we indulged in tiramisu, one of my all-time favourite treats. I’ve had my fair share of tiramisu, but the one at Gordos Pizzeria stands out as one of the best I’ve ever had. It was rich, creamy, and expertly balanced in sweetness, truly top-class.
The atmosphere at Gordos Pizzeria is further elevated by the presence of a typical and trendy local cool crowd from Hackney. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy your meal alongside the hip and vibrant people of the neighbourhood. This restaurant seamlessly blends into the Hackney scene, making it a hub for the stylish and fashionable crowd, giving it that authentic East London charm.
So there you go, Gordos Pizzeria is a hidden gem near Dalston Junction, offering a warm and inviting atmosphere, exceptional pizza, and unforgettable tiramisu. With its quirky decor, friendly staff, and the presence of Hackney’s typical and trendy local crowd, it’s a place that exudes character and deserves a visit for anyone in search of a memorable dining experience. Don’t miss out on this culinary gem in the heart of a buzzing neighbourhood.
