The Munich Cricket Club: Where Germany Meets London in Spectacular Style!

Culinary Fusion:  German Classics with a British Twist

VICTORIA – When you step into The Munich Cricket Club, you’re not just entering a restaurant; you’re embarking on a lively, unforgettable journey into the heart of Bavaria. With three vibrant branches spread across London – Tower Hill, Victoria, and Canary Wharf – our recent visit to the Victoria location left us buzzing with excitement.

From the moment you ascend the stairs to the entrance, where an impressive display of German steins piques your curiosity, you know you’re in for something special. Descending into the restaurant itself, the first thing that strikes you is the incredible sense of light and space, an unexpected surprise for a basement venue. With its high ceilings and unique lighting, The Munich Cricket Club successfully blends coziness with an open, inviting ambiance.

The interior design is a masterpiece of authenticity, transporting you straight to a traditional German beer hall. Wooden benches, long communal tables, checkered tablecloths, beer barrels, and charming wall displays adorned with beer labels and lederhosen create an atmosphere that is unmistakably Bavarian. It’s as if Munich has been magically transported to the heart of London.

A highlight of our visit was the warm and friendly welcome we received from Florian, the General Manager, and his staff, all dressed in traditional German/Bavarian costumes. Their goal is clear: to recreate the spirit of Germany’s Oktoberfest year-round while infusing it with the best of British hospitality. And thus, The Munich Cricket Club was born.

The menu is a tantalizing fusion of German and British delights. There’s a wide selection of drinks, including flavored schnapps and a beer taster board for the beer enthusiasts among us. The cocktails, with their contemporary German twist, are a must-try. We couldn’t get enough of the Apple Strudel Martini and the cheekily named German Pornstar. The food is a hearty affair with generous portions, featuring classics like goulash, noodles, schnitzel, currywurst, and sauerkraut. It’s a culinary journey that transports your taste buds straight to Germany, right in the heart of bustling London.

While most dishes delighted our palates, we couldn’t help but feel that the desserts, especially the apple strudel and German cheesecake, had room for improvement.

The Munich Cricket Club is not just a restaurant; it’s an experience. It’s the perfect spot for weekend brunches, post-work happy hour drinks, hen dos, stag dos, and private parties with two dedicated function areas. And the exciting news is that three branches are already lighting up London, with a fourth on the horizon.

The only disappointment of our visit? Missing out on the Thursday night extravaganza featuring live music, Oompah Bands, and the joy of dancing on the tables. Next time, we won’t make that mistake. The Munich Cricket Club beckons with its promise of unbridled fun, delicious fare, and an atmosphere that transports you to the heart of Bavaria. Prost!
