Shozna, led by Chef Jay Ahmed, wins Authentic Restaurant of the Year at the 2025 Asian Curry Awards, highlighting three decades of exceptional service, authentic cuisine, and community recognition.
T he 2025 Asian Curry Awards, often referred to as the “Curry Oscars,” proved to be a momentous occasion for Shozna in Rochester as the restaurant took home the prestigious title of Authentic Restaurant of the Year for the South East of England. The event, held on 17th November 2025 at Grosvenor House in Mayfair, London, saw over 1,200 guests, including some of the finest chefs, restaurateurs, and industry leaders in attendance.
Shozna’s success was driven by its executive chef, Jay Ahmed, whose dedication to authentic cuisine and exceptional leadership earned the restaurant this outstanding accolade. For Shozna, this award is just the latest triumph in a long history of recognition, with Jay Ahmed and the restaurant having garnered numerous prestigious awards over the past 30 years.
With Shozna set to celebrate its 30th anniversary in April next year, the restaurant’s journey is a testament to its unwavering commitment to excellence. Over the decades, Shozna has built a loyal following, thanks to its high-quality dishes, exceptional service, and passion for authentic cuisine, making it a leading name in Kent’s culinary scene.
Elsewhere, Kent’s culinary prowess continued to shine at the awards with Humayra in Sittingbourne also receiving recognition. The restaurant’s manager, Rose Ahmed, proudly claimed the title of Takeaway of the Year for the South East.
As Shozna and Humayra revel in their achievements, the Asian Curry Awards once again celebrate the creativity, tradition, and innovation of the UK’s Asian food industry.
