Rutab’s purple-and-gold presentation box opens to reveal individually finished Medjool dates, with chocolate coatings, decorative drizzles and touches of gold leaf.
Beautifully boxed and thoughtfully finished, Rutab’s filled Medjool dates bring fruit, chocolate and nuts together in a collection made for gifting—or keeping. An evening tasting of Peanut Butter and ginger-spiked Annie proved that the pleasure goes well beyond the packaging.
R utab’s boxes arrived around noon, but I saved the tasting until work was finished. By then, opening something beautiful felt like a small reward in itself. The deep purple packaging, gold lettering and neatly presented dates made an immediate impression. Here was a delivery worth taking a moment over.
Could dates really look this good and taste just as lovely? After trying two of Rutab’s combinations, my answer was an enthusiastic yes. Chocolate, dates and nuts belong together, and this collection gives that familiar partnership a particularly elegant presentation.
The Peanut Butter was an inviting place to begin. A Medjool date filled with crunchy peanut butter, coated in dark Belgian chocolate and finished with sea salt, it brings sweetness, nuttiness and a savoury touch into one generous bite. There is something immediately comforting about the combination. It feels indulgent enough for an after-dinner treat, with the date giving it a character of its own.
Annie takes a more spirited direction. This Medjool date combines ginger with dark Belgian chocolate, then adds further ginger and a scattering of gold leaf. The pairing brings warmth and a little fire to the sweetness, while the gold makes it look every bit as special as the box promises. Peanut Butter offers familiar comfort; Annie adds a livelier flourish. Both were a pleasure.
Presentation deserves its own mention. The individual finishes make the selection feel considered, and the purple-and-gold box would make a handsome gift. Yet the pleasure is also in opening it after an ordinary working day, choosing a date and allowing yourself a few unhurried minutes.
Rutab has brought together ingredients I already enjoy in a form that feels beautiful, generous and celebratory. My box arrived at lunchtime and became an evening treat worth waiting for.
EDITOR’S NOTE
Rutab delivers on both presentation and pleasure. The Peanut Butter combination has an easy, comforting appeal, while Annie’s ginger and dark chocolate brings a welcome spark. The beautiful box makes gifting an obvious choice, but our evening tasting made an equally persuasive case for keeping a selection to enjoy at home.
