Schnitzel Heaven Reinvents a Classic Cutlet with Global Flavours and Homemade Heart

A Modern Schnitzel Spot Where Family Recipes Meet Viral-Sized Comfort Food

Schnitzel Heaven transforms the humble breaded cutlet into an oversized, globally inspired experience, combining creative toppings, family recipes, warm hospitality, and exceptional execution in London’s Victoria Park and Hoxton locations.

veryone’s heard of a schnitzel, but have you heard of a Hawaiian schnitzel? Or an El Ranchero one? If you think about it, many cultures have their own version of a thin, breaded chicken cutlet. Chicken parmesan, chicken Milanese, chicken masala, chicken cordon bleu, chicken katsu, and the list goes on. Schnitzel Heaven provides all of these classics, but also puts their own spin on a whole new list of innovative and intriguing schnitzel dishes.

The menu is delightfully over the top. Alongside traditional Wiener Schnitzels sit towering creations topped with everything from pineapple and ham to jalapeño pickles and smashed avo. It’s the sort of place where choosing your meal is genuinely the hardest part. And not to mention, they’re bigger than my head.

Kylie presents Schnitzel Heaven’s signature schnitzel with a smile, inviting diners to discover where authentic Austrian tradition meets bold global flavours.

Schnitzel Heaven, located in both Victoria Park and Hoxton, runs on a community-based philosophy. As I sat in their open-air Hoxton location, I watched the manager, Tuncay, greet patron after patron by name with a wave and a handshake. A genial extrovert himself, he ensures that every guest leaves with a smile—whatever it takes—whether that’s righting a wrong, giving a little extra food when a kid is still hungry, or just chatting with you about your life.

You may be drawn in by the modern digs with its black and white tiles, greenery wall, and trendy music, but don’t be fooled; cooking in the back are mothers and grandmothers making secret family comfort recipes. When my plate arrived, it nearly disappeared beneath the schnitzel. The chicken stretched far beyond the edges, golden and unbelievably thin, looking more like a platter than a chicken breast. It borders on novelty, but unlike many oversized dishes, the quality isn’t sacrificed for spectacle. The schnitzel comes out fast and hot, astonishingly crisp with a pat of quickly melting house-made herb butter on top. Exactly what a big fried piece of food needs right? More butter? I was wary of it being too rich, but the herbs inside actually add a delicate lightness to the dish, along with the wedge of lemon that you must squeeze over the top. My chicken was incredibly tender, the perfect thickness, and toed a superb line between heavy and light.

Now the mushroom sauce we got on the side, that boy is rich. Though it isn’t straight cream based; it’s reminiscent of a masala sauce, which has that alcohol note to balance the lusciousness. I could drink it right out of the cute little jug it came in. A bite of the chicken with a bite of the creamy mashed potatoes was fine on its own, but the mushroom sauce blended the two seamlessly and added some much-needed moisture.

Schnitzel Heaven is a wildly unique spot. The stylish interiors, pop radio music, and the TikTok-worthy quirky menu and gigantic portions all point to a place that’s too modern for its own good, always trying to get ahead of the next trend. But then you hear about the mothers in the kitchen, you see Tuncay greeting people by name, and you taste the love and the quality in the food, and suddenly it’s a different kind of restaurant entirely. Yes, it’s worthy of going viral for its over-the-top cutlets, but it’s also a place to get a genuinely delicious and comforting meal that feels like home.
