Experiencing the Food at the Restaurant

For a restaurant food review, a Taste London reviewer visits the restaurant and experiences the food, service and atmosphere first-hand.

The reviewer may select dishes directly from the menu or ask the restaurant to recommend signature dishes that best represent its style, identity and culinary strengths.

Our assessment may consider:

  • The quality, flavour and presentation of the food
  • Ingredients and cooking techniques
  • Originality and menu development
  • Signature dishes
  • Drinks and food pairings
  • Hospitality and service
  • Atmosphere and surroundings
  • Value and overall dining experience
  • The restaurant’s concept, identity and story

Depending on the feature, the visit may also include a conversation with the chef, owner or another member of the restaurant team.

Restaurants should provide the same standard of food and hospitality that their guests would normally receive. Special treatment is neither required nor expected.

Arranging the Restaurant Visit

Once a restaurant has been selected or invited for consideration, we will arrange a suitable date and time for the visit.

Before the visit, we may request:

  • Current food and drinks menus
  • Information about the restaurant and its concept
  • Details of signature dishes
  • The names and biographies of the chef, founder or key team members
  • Information about ingredients, suppliers and culinary influences
  • High-resolution photographs and press materials

Supplying this information helps our editorial team prepare, but it does not guarantee that every detail will appear in the article.
